Jon Ruben admitted 17 offences at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week

An individual who spiked treats with sedative and gave them to minors at a summer program in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual crimes against two boys aged between nine and ten.

Jon Ruben was arrested after eight minors and an older person experienced illness at Stathern Lodge in July.

The 76-year-old, from that region, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he stood at the courthouse on the end of the week.

Nevertheless, he denied one of the sexual offences he was facing, which was concerning a nine-year-old child.

The accused was held in detention prior to a additional proceeding on 28 November.

'Candy game'

The legal representative, handling the case, outlined the criminal behavior to the court.

She stated his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a summer program which he ran.

The defendant conducted a "candy game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel explained, in which he would access the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and request they to consume candy "as fast as possible".

She informed the proceedings the man had engaged in this activity with the boys "over an extended period", and youngsters had previously become sick the next day.

She stated the defendant had been able to explain this for many years as the youngsters being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had concerns in summer 2025.

The prosecutor continued: "This year his stepson had concerns about the situation, with valid cause.

"They decided to examine in the man's possessions."

The prosecutor said objects including infant oil, Vaseline and medical needles were found, and his stepson contacted the law enforcement about his suspicions.

She said Ruben continued to engage in the "sweet game" with six boys that night - July 26th - and they were everyone unwell the next day.

"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that stage," she stated further.

The regulatory agency, the investigative body, previously told that it was investigating law enforcement's management of the events.

Mrs Prior explained the children were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so the stepson contacted the law enforcement again.

She explained Ruben then engaged in the "sweet game" in a room of five youngsters.
